We Will Run Away!

We will run away, away from the backs that walk away from us. We will laugh across the empty streets, holding hands and kissing occasionally. We will find a place to eat a couple of kibbes with lime and tahine and talk about the promising day that awaits. We will try the most expensive ice cream (yes, we are that happy), the most intriguing flavors... And when they finally find us, we will not really try to escape again, for a sole moment of happiness will have been enough to gather strength and stand the cold night in front of all those faces that face away and laugh at nothing.

TFF!

1. What was your biggest accomplishment this year?
I guess my good grades in the university, and having Minori here for Christmas.

2. What was your biggest disappointment?
Having to leave Minori to come back to Bogotá, winter blues, Lynn's depression.

3. What do you hope the new year brings?
Not a lot of stress, and I'm hoping to keep Minori and see him once again.

4. Will you be making any New Year's resolutions? If yes, what will they be?
Well, I would strongly like to go back to my old weight. I'm getting close!

5. What are your plans for New Year's Eve?
Same as every year. Eat, eat, and eat.

Past Friday Five

1. List your five favorite beverages.
Blackberry juice, strawberry juice, tangerine juice, Pony Malta, Milo.

2. List your five favorite websites.
My blogs, friends' blogs, Engrish.com, Habbo Hotel, Poprocks and Coke.

Peanuts, kaki no tane, Pocky, Mani Moto, gummi!

4. List your five favorite board and/or card games.
I don't really like to play.

5. List your five favorite computer and/or game system games.
As I said before, I don't like to play. But I used to play the Tarzan game like crazy.

And if I ever dare to stand from this bench...

I always wanted to sing in the school band.

But I didn't.

I had to play the bass.

My music teacher saw I was good at the guitar, so he got me into the band, and I had to play the bass. At first, the drummer hated me, so it got to a point where it was her or me, and she left because she couldn't stand my music teacher. I used to write songs, and finally we got to play one of them. As a last-minute act, I would go out alone with an acoustic guitar, and I would sing my latest song. That was my only chance to sing. No matter how much I begged, my teacher would never let me sing any of the normal act songs. He said I sang well, but he needed me at the bass, not at the microphone.

I wish I had been a singer in a band... Those who know me know how much I enjoy singing, how much I miss singing. I really wish I had been a band's lead singer... but now it's too late, and the best I can do is close my bedroom door, grab my guitar, and dream.

TFF!

1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays?
There's no snow in Colombia... days are really sunny in December, but nights are cold. I enjoy this weather.

2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect?
My ideal holiday celebration is the normal family gathering in Colombia, plus Minori.

3. Do you do have any holiday traditions?
Well, our family gathers together, and we do all those neat things Colombians usually do (Novena, good food, Christmas carols). Normal holiday traditions.

4. Do you do anything to help the needy?
Uh... not really. Well, the girl that used to clean our house has like six kids and her husband left her, she's like 26, very young, so we usually give her our old clothes and toys.

5. What one gift would you like for yourself?
Apart from Minori's presence, things are fine. If you want me to be wacky, I'd like a ticket to Japan.

Cold Hand

Where are you, cold hand in the snow?
Thousands of minuscule blades scratched your petals,
I used to kiss those petals amid watercolor skies.
Where are you, cold hand in the snow?
Your eyes had stored the stars, the night, the dew...
All crystalized now, gazing at intricate hexagons.

Under the sun I wait, Penelope, weaving nothing,
Hoping for you to walk out of this sea.
Liquid beads flow on my cheeks, a necklace, a disaster--
And you don't send a message in the wild waves...

My water moves, yours is diamond powder.
My surface burns, you've become timeless.
Where are you, cold hand in the snow?
You're the only hand I'd ever want to hold...

    Queen

Two nights ago I dreamed that I went to a Queen concert. Freddie Mercury was alive, but I knew he would die in the future. I had the opportunity to hug the four of them, and they were very nice to me. Bah, dreams are the only way to see them so close! Well, at least I can say I did hug them in my dreams. Some people can't even dream of nice things...
